• Expect to have some fun. Seriously! Come with the attitude that we will spend some fun time together and come away with memories and art that you can put on the wall. I will be directing you and your family on where to stand and move so you can relax and enjoy your time. We won’t have any time to change clothes so think layers if you want a different look. All the time we spend together is golden so I’ll keep my camera in hand and you keep looking fabulous. There is no down time, I keep shooting.

  • I will send you a list of locations for you to consider. Let’s talk about any other location you may have in mind including your own property. I like t have a backdrop of either water, trees or mountains. Luckily we have all of that in Oregon.

  • I don’t encourage props. Let’s focus on you, your family and our time together. I’m a dog person and feel like they are a part of the family as long as they are well behaved. I will have a blanket that you can use to lay on the ground when we do those type of shots. Props can be a distraction but if there is something you really have your heart set on then let’s talk.

  • Dress for the weather, of course, but more importantly dress comfortably. I would encourage that your family wear coordinating clothing but not matching. We will be standing, kneeling and sitting on the ground and may even be wadding in water. Dress the way that reflects who you are and the way that will be the most comfortable for all. Try on the clothes you plan on wearing and move around. Try sitting, crouching and laying down to see how the fabric moves with you.

  • I am a family lifestyle and newborn lifestyle photographer. That means I strive to capture the true essence of your family at this point in time. My goal isn’t to get stiff and posed pictures. We don’t say “cheese” or ask kids to sit still the whole time.

  • We will be using your home for all newborn pictures. I will be using the natural lighting and we will be in a familiar setting that your baby is getting used to.

  • Yes, you will get all of the high quality edited images on digital form. I will ask for a model release form to be signed so that I may use them on my web site for examples of my work. It is optional but much appreciated.

  • All of your edited images can be found on my Smugmug site. They are password protected, so no one else can see them without your permission. You can order any of your photos in many different formats, sizes, or on keepsakes like mugs, from a reliable printer.

  • For family sessions it will be about an hour. The very best time for light is called the golden hour, the hour of awesome light an hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset. During midday the light is usually to harsh and we don’t like that. This is why it will be so important to arrive at our shoot location on time. Take into account time for parking and traffic.

  • Your children may not be fond of being told how to pose or hug others. It is best if we give them time to relax at the beginning of our time and then try to capture their natural self. Please don’t worry if your child(ren) are running around and active, some of the best shots will be with them being themselves. I will be directing you to just “be” with the child(ren).

To get the most out of our time, make sure that they are rested, have had adequate snacks and water. We can take breaks for snacks or play but I will probably be shooting the whole time. Prepare your child by letting them know a friend will be taking some photos of them. it’s best not to surprise them.
